Though few new additions were added to the volume of logistics and industrial space in and around Bucharest in 2009, leaving the total available area around 900,000 sqm, Archicom, an international consulting and engineering company, is gearing up its resources for the expected market recovery later this year.
Active for over 20 years, and in Romania since 2000, Archicom offers logistics expertise and facility solutions in the field of industrial buildings and offices. The company’s main target is to achieve lower operational costs for its clients. “Our consultancy team, consisting of proactive and hands-on logistics and engineering experts, will work together with our clients to develop the best strategy and building design to fit their supply chain,” said Gerard Kuijs, president of Archicom.
Since its arrival in Romania, Archicom has been involved in a number of projects, including the new distribution structure for OMV-Petrom. Officials noted the company is currently involved in the development of a central distribution center for the Belgian-based retailer, Mega Image, in Popesti-Leordeni, as well as the creation of the Europolis Park Bucharest master plan for Europolis, a developer of commercial real-estate infrastructures and work environments.
Speaking about the company’s activity and projects in Romania, Archicom officials also mentioned the logistics seminars the company has organized in Bucharest. With between 250 and 300 guests, mostly chain managers and logistics managers, the seminars succeeded in bringing together international experience and local practice, according to company officials.
