How have women succeeded in tapping a male-dominated world? The answer is in fact quite simple: it was in their nature!
Women in this day and age manage industrial facilities, major companies, their own successful businesses and luxury stores, they design houses and work in online marketing. They have managed to achieve a high level of recognition. And, yet, how can that still come as a surprise to anyone? Have we forgotten the world’s great queens, or the women whose merits were only recognized if they disguised themselves as men?
According to a recent global study, just 20 per cent of the senior-level jobs in the financial sector in the UK and USA are occupied by women. In turn, a British study revealed housewives do 30,000 British pounds worth of work per year. Even so, this is not a piece about feminism. In fact, these lines aim at pointing out that history proves the complementarily of genders.
On this note, continuing its tradition, our magazine recognized the success of women in business and in the workplace, organizing an awards gala for the Most Admired Business Women in Romania on May 24. On that occasion, CEC Bank Vice president Mirela Iovu told the participants that over 5,000 of the bank’s 6,500 employees are women. Also, Business Arena’s readers voted Bibiana Stanciulov as the 2011 Most Admired Business Woman. She is an iron-fisted lady, who fully deserved the applause she received from the participants.
