Citibank has announced the expansion of its global investments offering for retail customers in Romania with newly-launched structured notes. According to the bank, these products respond to the need of customers for diversification into different asset classes, sectors, geographies and themes that they may not seek to have direct exposure to.
It also emphasized that structured notes meet clients’ specific financial needs in a way that cannot be met by the standardized financial instruments available in the markets, thus offering the possibility of higher returns, and in some situations up to 100% capital protection. Tenors are generally between one and five years, depending on clients’ investment horizon and risk profile.
“The launch of this class of structured products clearly demonstrates Citibank Romania’s commitment to offer innovative wealth management products which meet the requirements of our clients. With the growth in the mass affluent population in Central and Eastern Europe, we believe that many customers in Romania are looking for a complete wealth management service.
Structured notes can be customized to meet the unique investment objectives of investors and our Relationship Managers are all investment qualified and help our clients develop wealth management strategies that best fit their circumstances and financial needs. Whether they want to take an aggressive investment approach, or have a more cautious outlook we can use our range of products and expertise to help them,” said Luis Tomassoni, Retail Bank Head at Citibank Romania. As compared to other similar offers available on the market, the structured notes are available at Citibank starting from as low as 10,000 USD.
The bank also specified that investment products were not guaranteed by any government agency or through any deposit guarantee scheme. They are not guaranteed by Citibank Europe plc. Dublin – Romania branch or by any of its subsidiaries or affiliates directly or indirectly controlled by Citigroup. Investment products are exposed to, among other risks, the risk of losing partially or totally the invested capital. Past performance is not a guarantee for future performance and value of investment products can fluctuate. Investment products denominated in foreign currency are also exposed to the foreign exchange risk that can lead to a loss of the capital invested. Citibank Europe plc is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and carries out its activities in Romania by a branch - Citibank Europe plc, Dublin – Romanian Branch.
