Brand excellence comes under the spotlight

While the global economy is still grappling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine has made economic recovery even more difficult, throwing cold water on the business community's hopes for an easier time ahead. The winners of 28 April night's the Brand Excellence Hall of Fame Awards have achieved excellent results in that area, as experts say that products and services maintaining a high level of brand awareness are likely to generate more sales, while consumers confronted with choices are simply more likely to buy a familiar name brand product.
Even so, experts say that top brands enjoy a higher growth in value than the economy as a whole, while companies with a strong brand can grow even in difficult economic situations.

A report released by Brand Finance, an independent brand valuation consultancy firm, notes that "while brands in many traditional sectors have hit their capacity in terms of growing brand value, for others sky is the limit as they capitalize on innovation – in terms of both latest technological solutions and adapting to customer needs faster than ever before." It added: "In light of this, Tech is unsurprisingly the most valuable sector, accounting for 18% of total value among the world’s top 100 brands today. But it is the sectors revolutionised by technological innovation – Retail and Media – that really dazzle with their performance over the past 15 years. The two industries, ranking 2nd and 3rd behind Tech, have seen the fastest brand value growth in the top 100 among all large sectors of the economy at 454% and 467% respectively, as they benefit from the boom of e-commerce and the ascent of digital media. Oil & Gas and Automobiles have also seen solid growth (259% and 257%) as they continue to enjoy high demand and gradually address the challenge and opportunity of energy transition."

Thus, creating brand awareness is a key step for everyone, whether promoting a new product or reviving an older brand. The winners of last night’s the Brand Excellence Hall of Fame Awards have achieved excellent results in that area, as experts say that products and services maintaining a high level of brand awareness are likely to generate more sales, while consumers confronted with choices are simply more likely to buy a familiar name brand product.
