There is a popular belief that childhood friendships are the most durable. And it seems to be perfectly true in the case of the founders of FAN Courier. The three shareholders consolidated their earlier bonds, when they decided to make a team and start a business together.
Felix Ptrscanu, FAN Courier’s Managing Partner, says that beyond their friendship, which has its roots in their secondary school years, the three were initially driven by a common aspiration: to bring their contribution to the dramatic transformations which had started to affect the nation ten years earlier. “By 1998, when we launched FAN Courier, each of us had taken steps in the same direction, so the decision to join forces and ideas for a common goal came naturally. Adrian and Neculai Mihai had given up their jobs as a physical education teacher and as an engineer, respectively, as they decided to start a company together. I had also tried several jobs, but it was the experience I had gained with Cargus that actually prepared me for the FAN Courier adventure,” Felix Ptrscanu told Business Arena.
So, even though he had originally dreamt of becoming a judge, Felix Ptrscanu congratulates himself for his career choice, for his decision to take the risk together with his old friends, build a business from scratch. He clearly remembers their first day in business and even the first year. He remembers the old Dacia they used to transport the parcels and even the first apartment where they had their offices. He remembers the first customer and the first “contract”, a hand-written receipt, which is now framed in the company’s offices.
