No two days are the same in Ioana Grigore's position as a commercial manager for Business Lease Romania. "The business has so much to offer in terms of experiences, challenges and opportunities that there is no room for boredom," she says. And how else could it be when Ioana Grigore and her team work for a company that has become one of the strong players in the automotive and service industry, with over 200 customers and a fleet of thousands of cars?
Business Lease entered the Romanian market at the end of 2014. In an exclusive interview with Business Arena, Ioana Grigore emphasized that the company had shown interest in this market as early as 2006 - 2007, but following the onset of the financial crisis, investments in new markets were put on hold. “With Business Lease’s experience in CEE markets, Romania has given us high, but fair expectations. Our late entry into the market has had an impact on quick earnings, but Business Lease has long-term plans and 2017 is, so far, proof that we are on the right track,” she said.
Asked to elaborate on the new elements that Business Lease can bring on the local fleet management and leasing markets, Ioana Grigore emphasized that the company provided innovative products and services in an industry with a long history. “The business model and processes are similar to those of other competitors, but we excel in innovation, in technology and provided services. Currently, we have two areas of differentiation: our people and our tools. We have highly devoted people, with over 10 years of experience in automotive and service industry, and we have the opportunity to use new tools that have been developed based on our Dutch market history and on CEE countries usage and feedback.” This offers the company a privileged position, as it can benefit from Dutch know-how and industry prediction tools, and it can also learn from trials and errors in other CEE markets, explained Ioana Grigore.
The company is currently expanding its business, and it is very close to opening a branch in Cluj-Napoca in May, while the new team is already in place. “We have chosen Cluj to be our next destination, because it has a lot of business potential and an active Dutch business community. If everything goes according to plan, we will consider opening more branches in the future. Meanwhile, we continue focusing on our core business. Business Lease Romania ended last year as a leader of the car fleet management segment, with a market share of 27 percent, so there is still a lot space for growth. We also intend to improve our services by launching new innovative tools that have already been tested and used by our sister-companies,” Ioana Grigore explained when asked to give details about the company’s 2017 development strategies. “We have already started the year with the launch of a new program on the Romanian market - “Connected Care” - which is going to increase fleet reliability and safety and reduce the TCO, especially with regard to car maintenance. Moreover, this year we are going to launch an online platform available to our current customers,” the company’s commercial manager said.
